Do you hear a drip-drip-drip in the middle of the night? If so, the odds are good you are ignoring a leaky faucet somewhere in your house.
Tucson Water wants to let you know that now is the time to take action.
This week, the utility is promoting "Fix a Leak Week" to bring attention to the amount of water lost through minor household leaks.
Water loss through leaks exceeds 1 trillion gallons annually, even though most household leaks are easily repairable, a Tucson Water press release said.
"Leaking toilet flappers and faucets are usually the biggest causes of water waste in the home," said Tucson Water spokesman Fernando Molina in the release.
Tucson Water has an online drip/leak calculator that tallies daily, monthly and yearly water waste.
"Some would be quite surprised at the totals," Molina said.
Molina also suggests residents talk to experts at local plumbing supply and home improvement stores for guidance on making repairs and having the right tools and products for the job.

Data from Tucson Water's Zanjero Program indicate 30 percent of residential toilets were found to be leaking. When they are left unchecked or unrepaired, a customer's water bill can jump dramatically.
Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild has issued a proclamation reminding residents to continue their water conservation techniques and address possible water waste in their homes.
The EPA's WaterSense division officially launched "Fix a Leak Week" three years ago in Phoenix with the Arizona Department of Water Resources, and has since recruited utilities and governments to participate to help encourage water efficiency in residences.
