Pima County issues (another) air quality advisory

High winds may mean trouble breathing for some, Pima County officials said Friday, as they issued the third air quality warning this week.

Continued gusting winds and dry conditions prompted the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality to issue another air quality advisory, which will be in effect for 24 hours.

People "with heart disease and respiratory sensitivities may wish to reduce their exposure to outside air," said PDEQ spokeswoman Beth Gorman.

There are "tiny specks of soot, dust, and aerosols... suspended in the air," Gorman said.

"If you need to go outside, it is suggested you reduce your level of exertion to decrease the amount of particulates you breathe into your lungs," she said in a news release.

Up-to-the-hour air pollution levels are available online at the PDEQ website www.AirInfoNow.org or by calling the agency's hotline at 882-4AIR.
