Border Patrol offering Citizens Academy in Bisbee

Want an inside look at the Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection? The agencies will hold a free seven-week Citizens Academy in Bisbee, beginning Jan. 30.

Agents from BP's Brian A. Terry (Naco) and Douglas Stations as well as CBP officers from the Douglas and Naco ports of entry will lead the sessions, which are "designed to provide members of the community with an inside look into the daily operations of securing the border – at and between the ports – in Arizona," according to a CBP press release.

The classes will be held Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m.

Earlier this month, the agencies announced a Citizens Academy to be held in Casa Grande, beginning Feb. 7.

"Throughout the course, attendees will be able to participate in interactive demonstrations such as defensive tactics, tracking, and inspections for prohibited items," the release said.

A background check is required to participate, and applicants for the program should be in good physical health, the release said. Contact the Tucson Sector Public Affairs Office at 520-748-3210 for more information.
