Sheriff IDs four who stopped shooting rampage

Four people said to have helped stop the alleged shooting rampage of suspect Jared Lee Loughner have been identified by the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

They are Patricia Maisch, Roger Salzgeger, Bill D. Badger and Jospeh Zamudio.

Deputy Jason Ogan gave the following account:

Patricia Maisch was at the event, in the rear of the line, waiting to take a photograph with Rep. Giffords when the suspect began shooting.

When the suspect tried to load a fresh magazine into his weapon, Maisch was able to grab the bottom of the magazine and prevent it from being inserted. This pause in shooting allowed for two men, Roger Salzgeber and Bill D. Badger, to tackle the suspect to the ground and restrain him until deputies arrived.

An additional male, Joseph Zamudio, also assisted in restraining the suspect's legs.

Initial information reported Maisch was injured during the shooting. This information was inaccurate and she did not report having any injuries.

The first 911 call reporting the shooting incident was reported at 10:11 a.m., Ogan said.

The first sheriff's deputy arrived at 10:15, and the first medical personnel at 10:16.

"Within one minute of the first deputy's arrival, the suspect was in custody and medical personnel began treating the injured," Ogan said.

I don’t see any political references in this story.

You are right about the nastiness on both sides though.

With all due respect to Mrs. Maisch, concerning her comments that the “Extreme Right” is responsible for this massacre, I would like to say that Jared Loughner’s classmates have described him as a “leftwing pothead”.....
Loughner has written that his favorite books are Mein Kamph and Marx’s Communist Manifesto.
This guy was not a right winger.  I, personally, am very conservative and I deeply object to people saying that this horrific incident can be attributed to conservatives.  Does anyone remember the vitriol and abuse that the Left heaped on George Bush for eight years?  Some of them calling for his assassination? This awful stuff goes both ways and it is all our fault.

Sorry, we missed your input...
