Border Patrol offering Citizens Academy

Want an inside look at the Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection? The agencies will hold a free seven-week Citizens Academy in Casa Grande, beginning Feb. 7.

Agents from BP's Casa Grande Station and CBP officers from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will lead the sessions, which are "designed to provide members of the community with an inside look into the daily operations of securing the border – at and between the ports – in Arizona," according to a CBP press release.

"Throughout the course, attendees will be able to participate in interactive demonstrations such as defensive tactics, tracking, and inspections for prohibited items," the release said.

A background check is required to participate, and applicants for the program should be in good physical health, the release said. Contact the Tucson Sector Public Affairs Office at 520-748-3210 for more information.
