A coalition of more than 200 environmental and conservation groups urged President Obama to nominate Rep. Raúl Grijalva as the next Interior Secretary. Even though the current secretary hasn’t said he’s leaving. And Grijalva was passed over for the job four years ago. Since the good Representative doesn’t represent my little corner of AZ, my opinion is probably pointless(hey, I’m bored so I’ll share it anyway)but….this seems like another case of someone getting kicked UP the job ladder..not because they are particularly good at their current job, but because they’ve just been around so long and they’re a “good soldier” for the “cause”.....bad for the rest of us, good for Grijalva.
Grijalva should stay where he is. He’s doing fine.
He absolutely does not deserve a “promotion”, nor has he deserved to win at least the last two elections. However, I think that in the proposed spot he can do less damage to our community and our country then the spot he currently inexplicably occupies. Oh, he’ll still damage it every chance he gets…I think he’ll just get less chances.
