Well we do have sunshine - which should be attractive to solar power companies.
Otherwise ?
I am always surprised when these so-called “pro-business leaders” show such a total lack of understanding about what makes a successful business.
The thing that will attract businesses and make them successful is ... wait for it… customers. Not tax cuts and subsidies.
If you want renewable businesses to be successful here, then work out ways to help the people of Arizona so they can afford to buy the products of the businesses you want to support.
What is really needed is new financing tools so people can afford the up-front costs of capital-intensive things, like insulating their homes or installing solar water heaters.
How about changing the ACC rules for utilities so that TEP can claim the solar collector I put on my house as part of their “rate base”, if TEP finances the solar system and then recovers the cost, as part of my utility bills.
This would turn renewalbe energy into a “profit center”, rather than an expense.
