Go on a (free) epic adventure: Win 'Tales from Earthsea' tickets

Part of a retrospective series of all 22 films from the Studio Ghibli catalog, the Loft's screening of the animated adventure 'Tales from Earthsea' runs through Saturday — duck out of heat and into a magical world of dragons and castles, swords and sorcerers.

From our friends at the Loft Cinema:

Based on the classic fantasy book series by Ursula K. Le Guin, Tales from Earthsea is the first feature directed by Hayao Miyazaki’s son, Goro Miyazaki.

The film is set in a medieval world of castles and dragons, a world that has been thrown into chaos by an imbalance of magical forces and is being overtaken by a dark sorcerer on a quest to attain immortality. Meanwhile, troubled young Prince Arren is pursued by demons of his own, until he falls in with the master wizard Sparrowhawk and young Therru – another in a long line of strong-willed Miyazaki female protagonists – and together they set out to defeat the sorcerer and restore balance to Earthsea. (Dir. by Goro Miyazaki, 2006, Japan, 115 mins., Rated PG-13) Please note: This film contains some scenes of intense violence and bloodshed.

Showings before 4 p.m. will be dubbed; those after will be subtitled.
