U2 adding Phoenix to 'Joshua Tree' anniversary tour

While a trip back to Tucson is unlikely, U2 will bring their "Joshua Tree" 30th anniversary performance back close to where those songs made their live debut with a September concert in Phoenix.

The 1987 Joshua Tree tour kicked off with a pair of performances in ASU's arena in Tempe, with a stop in Tucson that followed (along with an ultra-rare rendition of the countryfied song "Lucille"). The massive worldwide tour ended with a pair of Christmastime shows at Sun Devil Stadium, which were filmed for the "Rattle and Hum" movie.

Making three decades since that album made the Irish band household names, U2 has been playing it in a series of concerts. Added to the tour list is a September 19 show at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Tickets to the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at Live Nation. Seats will be $35 and up, with general admission floor tickets priced at $70.
