All Souls documentary launches Az film festival Thursday

“Many Bones, One Heart,” a documentary based on Tucson’s All Souls Procession, will launch the 2015 Arizona International Film Festival at The Rialto Theatre on Thursday night.

The film's director, Tucson indie filmmaker Leslie Ann Epperson, traces the history of the event from its humble beginnings in 1990 through to the 2012 parade.

"When I first observed the All Souls Procession, the jubilant, costumed participants, and the cacophony of sounds were delightful," Epperson said. "But it was the shrines and photographs created by folks to honor their beloved dead that moved me to begin creating a documentary."

Epperson will be in attendance at Thursday's premier. The film starts at 7 p.m. at The Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St., and is shown again at noon on Saturday at The Screening Room, 127 E. Congress.
