I want to list some great local specials for the big V-Day. Here’s a sampling of some culinary goings on in the Tucson area.

Doubletree offers magical evenings this Valentine’s weekend

Make this Valentine’s Day memorable at the Doubletree Reid Park with a special four-course dinner for $34.95 at the Cactus Rose Steakhouse and an award-winning show, Carnival of Illusion-An Evening of Intimate Magical Wonders!

The Cactus Rose Steakhouse, serving delectable continental cuisine, will be offering a four-course meal with tasty dishes like Chili Spiced Rubbed Jumbo Shrimp, Steak and Lobster, Prime Rib and Vegetable Strudel. Guests can choose from indulgent desserts including a White Chocolate Banana Crème Brûlée, Bread Pudding with Jack Daniels Caramel Sauce or Chocolate Covered Strawberries with Champagne. Dinner also includes a glass of wine from the “By the Glass” selection.

Following dinner, relive a Victorian-inspired magical experience of the highest caliber at the Doubletree Hotel recreated by National Touring Illusionists and 2009 National Recipients for “Excellence in Magic,” Roland Sarlot and Susan Eyed. They will be recreating a unique magical performance that was performed for European high society in the mid-1800’s. Shows are February 12th and 13th at 6 pm and 8:30 pm. Reservations are required.

Make a date with Fox Restaurants this Valentine’s Day

Treat someone special to a romantic and memorable Valentine’s Day at your favorite Fox Restaurant. Wildflower, Montana Avenue and NoRTH are pleased to offer special three-course prix-fixe menus for $55 per person from 5:30pm to close. Valentine’s Day for seafood lovers

Bluefin Seafood Bistro

Make this Valentine’s Day memorable by celebrating at the award-winning Bluefin Seafood Bistro, 7053 North Oracle Road. Executive Chef Jim Murphy has prepared an à la carte menu which will include special items and a mix of favorite dishes from Bluefin’s dinner menu.

À la carte items include the Cashew Crusted Mahi-Mahi and Bluefin Bouillabaisse made with lobster, cod, shrimp, scallops and mussels. Specials for the evening include a flavorful Lobster Bisque, Cedar Planked Hawaiian Escolar, Roasted and Carved Beef Tenderloin and Grilled New Zealand Sea Bass. Most entrées are accompanied by Texmati rice and sautéed vegetables. Prices for entrées $21-$30.

For dessert, Bluefin will feature signature dishes including the Flourless Chocolate Hazelnut Torte, Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Ginger Molasses Cake made with roasted pear cinnamon caramel.

This Valentine’s Day, make reservations at Tucson’s best seafood restaurant. Treat your sweetheart to dinner at Kingfisher Bar & Grill, 2564 East Grant Road. A special Valentine’s Day menu of house favorites will be available from 5pm-10pm; the late night menu will be available from 10pm-midnight.

Share a bottle of wine and savor oysters, grilled shrimp, smoked ruby trout and scallop ceviche from Kingfisher’s famous Oyster Bar Tasting. The Valentine’s menu also includes tasty appetizers like New England and Manhattan Clam Chowder served with oyster crackers, and the Baked Oysters “Storyville” made with crab meat, champagne, crème fraiche, cayenne, parmesan and sweet butter.

Entrées prepared especially for the evening include live New England Lobsters steamed with drawn butter, with Texmati rice pilaf and julienne vegetables, and Kingfisher’s Cioppino with crab, scallops, littleneck clams, mussels, shrimp, codfish, tomato, leeks, fish broth and basil pesto crouton. Entrées are priced between $24 and $34.

Dessert includes the ever popular Kahlua Cheesecase with dulce de leche sauce and the Apricot Ginger Poundcake with butterscotch ice cream and hot buttered rum sauce.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Hacienda del Sol

The Grill at Hacienda del Sol, 5501 North Hacienda del Sol Road, invites you to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a $75 prix-fixe four-course meal prepared by renowned Executive Chef Ramiro Scavo. Ladies each receive a beautiful red rose.

Consistently praised for its unrivaled Southwestern ambiance, The Grill at Hacienda del Sol is an elegant choice this Valentine’s Day. Oro Valley's Harvest Restaurant

Join the award-winning Harvest Restaurant, 10355 North La Canada Drive, this Valentine’s Day and enjoy a romantic $55 three-course prix fixe dinner and carefully selected wine pairings.

This Valentine’s Day, Harvest’s special first course menu will feature Maine Lobster Bisque with butter poached little neck clams and a Seafood Antipasti for two that includes Oysters Rockefeller, citrus and fennel steamed mussels and Dungeness Crab.
